Summary/Abstract: Desert kites are one of the least researched subjects in archaeological studies in Turkey. Since 2013, numerous kites have been discovered in surface surveys of the Tektek Mountains in Şanlıurfa province (SE Turkey). 13 kites with approximate areas of 10-100 decares are introduced in this report. These kites are surrounded by walls constructed with flat boulders arranged like fish scales. The kites are thought to be used for hunting gazelle through multiple periods. Surveys from cliff sites in the vicinity of these kites have revealed remains, including "T" shaped pillars, from Neolithic, Chalcolithic, Bronze Age, Iron Age, Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman periods. Many large kites have been discovered near cult centers like Harbetsuvan Tepesi, Karahan Tepe and Kurt Tepesi.
