Summary/Abstract: Women existence in working life started with the Industrial Revolution. In this period, which textile industry has a pioneering role, the production methods have been reformed with mechanization. Based on association of weaving with women and their being seen as cheap labor force, women workers were able to show presence in the weaving industry. The concept of design which started to be questioned by mass production later left its place to the concept of designer. At the beginning, artists and engineers made furniture, wallpaper, fabric or costume designs in this newly formed profession. After the opening of schools that educate designers, women designers started to appear in design field. The success story of Jacqueline Groag, who proves her existence not in the weaving which is associated with women, but in the field of print design, in a newly formed profession within a male dominant world, is explored both because of her active role in the development of textile printing design in Europe in the early 20th century and because of her being one of the talented pioneering female designers.
