Summary/Abstract: There are a great number of rock tombs in the necropolis area in the south western part of the castle walls which is called Urfa Castle in Şanlıurfa. These tombs have varius plan with one or two rooms. One of the most remarkable of these tombs is the loculus rock tomb, which has been well preserved until now. The common feature of these tombs is that deep cells (Loculus) with a quadrangular cross section are opened inside the rock, having three or four sides of the rectangular (grave chambers) central space. This loculus rock tomb located in the highest point in the castle payer is very important because of the burial of many dead in the grave.
