Summary/Abstract: The article presents the contribution of Mosko Moskov to the study of sound symbolism. His research on Turkic and Turkish borrowings of sound-symbolic origin in Balkan languages is the first complete and thorough investigation on phonetically motivated words in Bulgarian linguistics. This pioneering work of the scientist was written at a time when the attitude to sound symbolism was highly skeptical.
