POETICAL HERBARIUM OF SERBIAN MEDIVAL CHURCH POETRY -SYMBOLISM OF TREE, OLIVE TREE AND VINE IN SRBLJAK

Summary/Abstract: The main task of this work is to determine the meaning and function of symbols, such as tree, olive tree and vine in the Serbian medieval ecclesiastical poetry, as well as the circle of the saints who are closely connected with this symbols. The main issue in relation to this phenomenon is the question which concerns origin of this symbols - whether the use of certain floral symbol is product of direct, personal, or a bookish experience (whether it is related to the Bible or Byzantine literature), as well as the time of appearance in Serbian medieval literature.
