THE CHARACTER OF A FOREIGNER IN MILOVAN VIDAKOVIĆ’S NOVELS

Summary/Abstract: Chronological perceiving of novels by Milovan Vidaković (1780-1841), one of the founders of Serbian novel as a genre and its most important representative in the first half of the 19th century, using imagology research of the foreigner characters, strives to introduce the Otherness as a category that includes, intentional or with the new reading later adjoint, humorous potential. Throughout the, for the given time, specific author’s characterization, we recognize the impact and the importance that his rich oeuvre spread to the other Serbian nineteenth-century novelists.
