Summary/Abstract: Svetozar Ćorović’s one-act play from the year before the Great war, Our Theatre, takes a very special place in his rich and diverse dramatic opus. This place also belongs to the aforementioned Ćorović’s forgotten play in the context of our entire dramatic heritage because of its innovative dramatic process, complex hero concept and attempt to show the hero’s fate by using paradox. The aim of this paper is to draw a parallel between the analysis of this play as a literary-historical occurrence avant la lettre and the poetics of the Theatre of the Absurd, dominant from the mid-twentieth century and even more so with the dramatic works of the Italian author, Luigi Pirandello, who first broke the already-existing forms of the theatre.
