Summary/Abstract: In my study, I am striving to explore more thoroughly Rousseau’s social criticism. Rousseau’s concept of society is being timely and intriguing, as it does not primarily describe the emerging of inequalities and the abuses of absolutism, but has shown, that there are no universal laws that can lay down and legitimize in an immanent way the rules of association among people. Rousseau’s seemingly paradox ideas highlight the inevitable discrepancies extant in the functioning of basic political terms, the impossibilities of immanently establishing these terms, as well as the mechanisms and wonders that are inevitable for the law as a system to function in the way it does.
