Summary/Abstract: Contemporary narratology brings numbered changes to classical structuralist nar- ratology. The one of major differences is that postclassical narratology does not consider text as finished product, but as a process in which reader becomes very important agent. In the process of reading, reader successively informs himself about story and the functions of narrative elements can be altered with each new piece of information. Paper explores the dynamics of reading garden-path stories and highlights the field of cognitive narratology that describes interpretation changes during the process of reading and their influence in creating final meaning of narrative and its elements.
