Summary/Abstract: Dragoljub Pavlović is one of the most important Serbian literary historians of the 20th century. He was a student and later a collaborator of Pavle Popović, so he continued in the vein of his work on the study of Dubrovnik literature and the literature of former times in Southern Slavic context. The work of Dragoljub Pavlović has been the subject of research, mainly in the past ten years. He wrote about popular genres that were nourished in Dubrovnik during the 16th and 17th century, and also about the general and theoretical issues related to the Dubrovnik literature: various cultural and sociological phenomena that he linked to the literary creation. Dragoljub Pavlović designated the literature he studied as “older Yugoslav literature”, and its writers as “ours” or “writers of Dubrovnik”.
