Summary/Abstract: The paper analyses the relationship between fiction and reality in literary and philosophical thoughts from ancient poetics to date, as well as in the novel Götz and Meyer by David Albahari. Theoretical systems from ancient times to the twentieth century, examining the characteristics of historical and fictional discourse, lead to denial of differences between these categories in the works of poststructuralist and deconstructivist, which result in the neutralization of truth in literary work, and ultimately the denial of the possibility of objective knowledge of reality. The paper analyzes the ways in which historical data is transposed into fictional discourse of the novel Götz and Meyer by David Albahari, as well as which means oppose their authenticity.
