Challenges for the Polish Power Engineering as a result of the transformation of the generation structure

Summary/Abstract: The fuel structure of generating assets of utility power industry in Poland, with an indication ofthe dynamics of change and international comparisons – at EU level is presented; also the dynamicsof the development of renewable energy sources. The trends and prospects for the emergence of newpower plants are pointed. Important considerations arising from the impact of wind power for the operationof coal-fired power plants in Poland are discussed. The trends and basic intentions arising fromthe current Energy Policy of Poland are summarized.
