STUDYING THE PHENOMENON OF CONVERSION IN STERIJA’S COMEDY RODOLJUPCI THROUGH MENTALITY RESEARCH

Summary/Abstract: This paper is about the phenomenon of conversion in Jovan Sterija Popović’s comedy Rodoljupci. The study of this phenomenon, that is present not only in Serbian literature, but also in history and society, has been done in the light of a new discipline that has been named mentality research or mentalities. The author has focused his research of conversion phenomenon on the types of manifestations and the causes of behavior and actions of the characters in the Sterija’s comedy, but is also considering the literary processes. In this way, that is through mentality research, we can discover new aspects and deeper levels of Rodoljupci, situate them in a wider context of national mentality and understand Sterija’s work even better.
