VERSIONS OF THE COLLECTION NAPAST (THE PEST) BY NOVICA TADIĆ

Summary/Abstract: In this paper we review and explain two different editorial of the poetry book Napast by Novica Tadic - first one, published in 1994, and the second one in 2001, which, honouring author’s last will, was published in his Collected poems (2012). By way of poet’s proclamations that he writes quickly, on to go, and that he doesn’t make too many interventions on already published works, we hypothesized that in his book of poetry Napast he made minor compositional and stylistic interventions (above all, in graphical image of poems, lexical changes, or sometimes verse/poem widening or reduction). As it turns out, the interventions were more significant than expected, and we found them on all text’s level. Amongst the observed changes, two types are identified as the principal ones: changes on the level of macro-text (poem), which lead to changes in the thematic and motif plane, nature of poet’s I as well as the poetry image, and changes on the level of micro-text (verse/utterance), which specify the meaning or influence suggestiveness of descriptions. The first type of changes indicates that several poems in the second editorial, by way of notable widening relative to the first one, bring in differences not only on the formal and content plane, but also in the poetic one, changing the nature and position of poet’s I. The second types of changes mainly relates to lexical-semantic and intonation aspects, and does not transform the original spirit of poem, but still shapes its stylistic and verbal expression, especially when it is about semantic detailing of utterance or its (increased) irony. The analysis tried to show that all types of interventions in the second editorial of the book of poetry Napast are justified.
