Having been a founder and an editor of calendars Mährischer Wanderer and Vaterlaändischer Pilger, he was influenced by the Enlightenment and by encyclopedism. He was an educator and he became the headmaster of the school founded by countess Thruchsess-Zeil in Moravian town Kunín. His educational methods were influenced by the thoughts of Swiss pedagogue Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi. For one year he was teaching František Palacký, later he still kept in touch with him. The author of the paper also refutes the hypothesis passed on in Czech and German specialized literature, according to that Jurende was not the editor of the calendars written in Czech language.
