Summary/Abstract: The main purpose of this study, the basic characteristics of the structure of the board of directors of joint-stock companies by evealing with in the frame of the scale of Turkey is to determine the appearance of the boards of directors of the Turkish business. In this goal direction, a questionnaire has been prepared and conducted on the Anatolian 500 for this purpose and the data were obtained from these companies. The result sobtained by examining data on 200 company's board structure have been discussed. According to the obtained results, the average number of members of the companies is 4,91. In 58 % of businesses which took part in this survey the chief executive officer and chairman of the board of directors is composed of the same people, and the average in dependent board members is 0,54. 81 percent of the companies have external members while 14 percent of the companies have foreign members.
