Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is to discuss selected innovations created by food companies in response to consumer needs on the basis of secondary sources of information published in the years 2000-2017.As a result of the conducted studies, it was observed that modern consumers have busy lifestyles and are increasingly environment and health conscious. Therefore, they look for alternatives that will guarantee comfort, save time and help improve their health. In addition, more and more attention is focused on the emotions which accompany consumption. Therefore, in order to remain competitive, food industry companies are forced to study the market and implement innovative solutions adjusted to the preferences of consumers, such as convenience foods, functional foods, and special catering services.
