HISTORY AND NARRATION, THEORY AND FICTION

Summary/Abstract: The paper reexamines the issue of the relationship between dicsourse, historiography and fiction, from the eighteenth century till nowadays. Via the range of the scientific ideal of the "objective” history up to poststructuralism of the narratological historiography theories, the paper once again highlights the limits of the historical writing and raises the question of the roles of fiction in historiography, as well as the roles of fiction, as a separate mode of discourse, in the process of comprehending history.
