Summary/Abstract: This paper is a review and an attempt to systematize Seneca’s standpoitns about style which he sporadically expressed in his letters to Lucilius. The paper discusses the relation between man’s activity and his words, the influence of social movements on style and the skill of speech, speech as an external image of the soul, the relation between style and the goal, as well as the basic features of good style, according to Seneca’s understanding.
