Summary/Abstract: The author points to a rich literary material related to the personality and work of Prince/King Milan. This material is varied in genre (lyrical poems, prose, drama, memoir writing, journalist writing), and the evaluation of the King’s personality and role includes the extreme views, from apologia to satirical grotesque. The attitude of the author depended not only on his political views, but also on historical circumstances (beginning and end of his rule) and on the moment of creation of a particular work. King Milan’s personality (his behavour as a ruler, in public and private life) was very challenging for literary shaping, specially for the novelist imagination. Pointing to the relation between factographic and fictional factors, the author of this paper discusses the novels of Pera Todorovic and Vladan Djordjevic, indicating their stylistic-rhetorical, genre (e.g. novel with a key) and morphological characteristics.
