Summary/Abstract: The work is discussing some specific problems of historical novel (such as the question of relations between historical and literar „truth” or the way of using/selecting historical documents in order to construct fictional story pretending to reveal truthful but hidden history) as well as outstanding features of Ignjatovic’s narration, first of all the position of morally indiferrent/skeptical author and authorial comment tending to provide the text with (more) universal meaning. In the course of anylising the same kind of moral pessimsm is discovered in his historical and „humorous” social novels with contemporary topics — the history is given the content which justify Ignjatovic’s general world view, highly compatible in both kinds of texts. According to that, sources of tragical position of moraly infantile individual/communion/humanity appears to be the same in all epochs and under any circoumstances.
