Summary/Abstract: This paper presents a theoretical and hermeneutical analysis of the paradigmatic types of interpretation of Shakespeare’s history plays in the twentieth century. The history play’s conflation of historiography and literary imagination has led this research to the intersection of the theory of history and the theory of literature. On the other hand, the analysis of the strategies of interpretation required philosophical hermeneutics as the third structural basis of this work.
