Summary/Abstract: Gvido Tartalja was a writer, poet, translator, best known as an author of literary works for children. In the period between 1920 and 1930, he very actively observed trends in recent Italian literature, in a way relating his own literary career to them, too. Certainly, it should be mentioned that such interests also represented a part of his family tradition. He was one of those who in the post-war period, if not more comprehensively, then more promptly than others, did quite a lot in informing our literary public about the events and novelties in Italian literature. In addition to a significant number of various literary contributions, primarily translations and reviews, as well as to his original poetic work, we can also evaluate Gvido Tartalja’s attitude to Italian literature on the basis o f a certain amount of archive material which we were able to study by the courtesy of Mr. Ivo Tartalja. This research endeavour is dedicated to shedding light on these above-mentioned dimensions of Gvido Tartalja’s literary work.
