Interview with the Dancer Batarita

Summary/Abstract: On her first visit to Budapest a few years ago Carlotta Ikeda called Batarita a Butoh-dancer. We can follow the journey of the artist, dancer and choreographer from sport-gymnastics and handball towards dance and choreography. From the interview entitled Body-channel how closely the related arts – visual arts and literature – are linked to movement during the creative work and what Batarita means by energy-centre​. Often residing in Asia, the artist talks about the compressing, sublimating process of creation and first of all about the role of the body; about its connection to consciousness, experience, will and perception.
