Summary/Abstract: Mercantilism is often perceived as outdated, a set of views that do not address current problems. What is more, since the 1970s until the recent economic crisis, a much greater interest among economists was raised by the liberal model, thus having a greater impact on shaping reality. The aim of the article is to examine whether mercantilist concepts are still valid and if they can infl uence the global economy. According to an argument put forward in the article, some ideas espoused by the representatives of mercantilism are still relevant. Therefore, there emerges a new type of mercantilism which aims at developing the most advanced innovation of economies.
