Summary/Abstract: Phonological awareness is the conscious sensitivity to the sound structure of language, which includes the ability of identification, isolation, blending, separation and manipulation of sounds of language. The speed of naming is a complex integration of many processes related to cognitive and linguistic area. The main objective of this experimental study is to examine the structure of the phenomenon of phonological awareness. The result of the experimental study of 227 Bulgarian children by the author prove that phonological awareness and rapid naming are distinct components of the factor structure of the phenomenon phonological awareness and should be regarded as independent, autonomous and significant values.
