Summary/Abstract: The paper pinpoints the need of standard of correct writing that serves to adequate evaluation of writing skills in primary school children. A study of these skills in 1377 students of 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade is presented. Statistically significant differences between boys and girls and between students from different stages of training are demonstrated. Standard of correct writing in all populations (boys and girls of 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade) is identified and described. They can be used by different professionals (speech therapists, school psychologists, teachers) for quantitative assessment of performance in mastering of writing in these populations and for early identification of children with dyslexia – disorders of writing, reading, learning ability.
