Identification of patterns of the involvement in qualifications improvement by sequence analysis

Summary/Abstract: The article concerns issues related to activities aimed at the improvement of competences, in particular the involvement in the lifelong learning process in Poland in subsequent time units and in relation to some demographic characteristics such as gender and age. The sequence analysis was used as a research method to identify the main patterns of behaviour in the field of interest and in the selected time interval. The analyzes were conducted on the basis of panel data from the years 2009–2015, derived from a nationwide survey entitled Social Diagnosis. The results show a number of negative regularities in terms of the engagement in the improvement of qualifications.
