Summary/Abstract: The problems of internal communication constitute presently a very important issue of organization management. Growing amount of information, implementing advanced projects, needs of employees, society and the environment or development of ICT communication necessitate attaching a greater importance to the new role of internal communication as an innovative approach to managing organizations. Thus, due to the already stressed great value of internal communication, the goal of the present paper is to describe contemporary trends in this area and present selected aspects connected with the role it fulfils in organization management. The analysis included in the present paper has been primarily based on the review of the literature on the subject concerning the theoretical conditionings of applying internal communication in managing organizations and presenting its tools that are currently most frequently used. Then, the Author analyses the results of secondary research that focuses on the influence of internal communication on entities functioning. The research presented was carried out both in Poland as well as in other parts of the world, among entities of various sizes, where the respondents were employees from various levels. This research has indicated that of particular importance are: partner and open communication among all the employees, responsibility of managers for smooth information flow and also making use of online tools. These tools are already indispensable social media, the application of which increases employee engagement in performing tasks and achieving the set goals. The conclusion of the theoretical analysis as well as the review of empirical research is unequivocal and indicates a growing role of internal communication in managing organizations, which can constitute its innovative dimension in contemporary world.
