Summary/Abstract: In this article, the author analyses the legal provisions contained in the Serbian Labour Act on the protection of women during pregnancy and at childbirth. Pregnant women fall into one of the most vulnerable social groups of people who are either employed or seeking employment. The woman’s maternal role is frequently in incongruity with the woman’s professional career. In pregnancy and child birth, women enjoy special protection. In this article, the author particularly focuses on the social authorities that a woman may refer to for the protection of these special rights during pregnancy and at childbirth, as well as in case of being subject to discrimination.
