Summary/Abstract: The article substantiates the principles and methods of synchronous-diachronic analysis of the word-formation system of the German language, examines the possibilities of modeling the historical dynamics of the word-building nest as the main macro-unit of the word-formation system. In the analysis field there is a word-forming nest with thе stem geh-, which formation is investigated at different periods of the history of the German language. The significance of the verbs of motion in the linguistic picture of the world determined the character and structure of this nest as one of the largest in the German language.
