Investigation of Decision Making Styles of Health Management Students

Summary/Abstract: This study was conducted to examine the decision making styles of the health management students and to investigate the impact of socio-demographic characteristics on decision making styles. This study is descriptive. The population of study is composed of students from the Department of Health Management who are training at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of a state university in Turkey (N=345). The sample was not selected in the study, the data were obtained from total 276 students who agreed to participate in the study. The data of the study were collected by face-to-face interview method. The Decision Making Styles Scale was used to measure the decision making styles of students in the study. Descriptive statistics, importance test of two means, one-way analysis of variance (Anova) were used. According to the results of the research, it was determined that perceptions of students, associated with decision making styles were determined as mediumlevel. The study findings showed that dependent decision making styles were found to be statistically significant in terms of gender and work experience, avoidant decision style were found to be statistically significant in terms of age (p<0.05).
