Summary/Abstract: Democratic electoral law is the essence of representative democracy. In December 2017and January 2018, the Sejm and Senate have passed hugely controversial law amending inter aliaPolish Electoral Code. Its adoption was opposed by the parliamentary opposition, by the electoraladministration bodies and by many experts, but unsuccessfully. The President of the Republicsigned that and ordered its promulgation in the Journal of Laws of the Republic of Poland. The most controversial proposals concerned the changes in electoral administration and limitingthe mayor (city president) to two terms in office. This law, pushed through by Law and Justice, the ruling party, in Author’s opinion will lead to politicization of the electoral administration, sothere are risks of a loss the transparency of the election.
