Summary/Abstract: The 23rd conference of history science of the Baltic states, named “Historiae Scientiarum Baltica – 50” (HSB – 50) took place on October 9 – 10, 2008 in Riga. It was dedicated to commemorate the 50th anniversary of all organized conferences as well as the restoration of Paulas Stradinis’ museum of medicine history and Riga technical university. Ninety six scientists participated in this conference who came not only from the Baltic states but also from Austria, Belarus, Great Britain, the USA, Portugal, Russia, Finland, Ukraine, Germany. Next to plenary debates, presentations were made in numerous sections in which Lithuanian researchers presented the results of their investigations. The scientific programme was accompanied by other events: the library of the Latvian Academy of Sciences hosted an exhibition dedicated to scientific publications of the three Baltic states, honorific names of the members of the Latvian history science society were awarded. The conference ended with the General Assembly of the Baltic history and philosophy association; there, it was decided to continue this meaningful and significant activity and to participate actively in international forums.
