Social and Economic Cohesion of the Polish Regions

Summary/Abstract: Social and economic cohesion is the essence of European Union’s action with respect to regions.The level of development for many regions are below the EU. For this reason, investments used bythe EU’s Cohesion policy to achieve to more coherence in EU at the regional level. The aim of thepaper is to assess the diferentials of socio-economic cohesion Polish regions for years 2010 and2015. The chosen aspects (such as affluence, health, education, innovativeness, entrepreneurship,regional infrastructure) characterizing socio economic development, were analysed. Taxonomicmethod and cluster analysis were used to accomplish the goal. The analysis is crucial to assess thedisparity between Polish regions regarding the level of development in terms of cohesion policyeffects.
