Summary/Abstract: Modern / contemporary sociological constellations of thought and knowledge are characterized by a constant questioning of the intellectual reach of classical sociological tradition. Narratives about classical sociological thought, which by their nature are apologetic, often access to classical sociological thought through scanty, reduced segments or rather impoverished selective approaches. The classics of sociological thought are becoming less read, and instead of reading the original works of the founders of scientific sociological thinking and knowledge, they resort to the reinterpretations of interpretations of what the founders of sociological knowledge had thought and wrote. We are witnessing of the oblivion and disappearance of basic knowledge about the ideas, work and merits of classical sociological thinkers. It is possible to speak about two opposite views with key principles, on the one side, the principle of relativization of the meaning and significance of classics, and, on the other side, the principle of continuity, cumulativity in matters of merit and the achievement of classics of sociological science. We also point to the fact that the admiration of the classics has its limits, and that if this fact becomes dis¬regarded, the uncontrolled generalization of the work, the meaning, the merit, and the meaning of the founder of classical sociological thought occurs
