Summary/Abstract: The Soviet government was one of the only big power that the Turkish government could get support from during its Independence War. However, the Russian government tended to protect the Armenians which created tension between the Turks and Russians. After Treaty of Alexandropol, the close relations between Britain-France and Turkey alarmed the Russian government. The Soviets feared that Ankara would become an ally with Britain and France against the Russian government, which Moscow tried to prevent. This situation helped the Turkish government to sign Turco-Soviet Friendly Agreement and maintain its National Pact (Misak-ı Milli).
