Summary/Abstract: The aim of investigation is to acquire a society of medical workers with main stages of scientific activities, the founder of the gastroenterological school in Bukovina, of Professor Natan Borysovych Shchupak, during her work in Chernivtsi Medical Institute. Methods of investigation are such: biographic and systematic approaches. Scientific novelty. The paper covers the major stages in the research and medical activities of professor Natan Borysovych Shchupak – head of the Department of Faculty Therapy (1949-1966) in Chernivtsi Medical Institute, who was a talented physician and a great Teacher. Natan Borysovych is the author of 80 scientific papers, including five monographs. He supervised doctoral theses defended by O.O. Voloshchuk and L.S. Klochkova as well as over 15 candidate theses. The main feature of the doctor, to Nathan Borysovych’s mind, is the ability to focus on the patient, in search of possibilities to help the patient, whose life depends on the determination and competence of the doctor. As chairman of the Chernivtsi Scientific Society of Therapists, he considered this link as a step towards professional improvement of doctors, where his authority, the brilliant talent of the speaker combined with human charm contributed to the formation of a great school of humanity, benevolence, and professional growth. Conclusion. He raised his students with his own example, how to be demanding to themselves, devoted to science, modest, possess spiritual purity. Since 1994 an annual student scholarship named after Professor N.B. Shchupak has been given to students as a tribute to the great humanist, scientist, sensitive tutor, caring mentor and a cheerful person.
