Summary/Abstract: This article focuses on a peculiar form of sexual disorder, namely on sexual dysfunction symptoms observed in bipolar disorders. Crucial research concerned with the type and frequency of sexual dysfunctions observed in bipolar disorders has been described, along with the selection of therapeutic interventions aimed at augmenting the sexual functions in this group of the diseased. One of the strategies suggested to increase libido and to treat erection disorders is to apply androgens (including an adrenal androgen–dehydroepiandrosterone). The paper contains a description of a therapy of a patient suffering from the affective bipolar disease, who was receiving, over a period of 12 months, a 100 mg dose of dehydroepiandrosterone in order to treat his reduced libido and erection disorders.
