Summary/Abstract: The article deals with Russian fairy tales related to type ATU 552 The Girls Who Married Animals. They use to be widespread both in Russian cheap popular literature (lubok), and in the oral folk tradition. The first literary adaptation of this plot is found in the «Pentamerone» by G. Basile.
