Summary/Abstract: The prostitution is one of the oldest phenomenon of the social pathology. Most often characteristics this phenomenon are: give their bodies in order to satisfy needs of clients, profit from prostitution and lack of bonds in a sexual relationship. Known literature lists a lot of psychic side – effects of prostitution, among these: shame and dislike for themselves, inability to sincere experience of feeling, separation the emotional from the sexual sphere. The continual risk themselves in violence and abuse causes women live in a constant tension and fear. Many of them shows symptoms of CPTSD. Most of them are addicted to alcohol and drugs. They apply also the dissociation and the strategy of „making out” to escape from the reality. Mostly prostitutes have immature personality, they reveal disorders in the emotional sphere, they are incapable of making normal social contacts. These traits can be however both causes and effects of prostitution.
