Ways of forming terms in the field of aesthetic medicine in Polish

Summary/Abstract: The process of forming terms in the field of esthetic medicine in contemporary Polish is rather heterogeneous and term creation frequently runs counter to the established national ideas about terminological codification. The paper examines these issues in Polish both qualitatively and quantitatively on the basis of a corpus. The reduction of neoclassical formants, borrowings from other languages, lexical insufficiency and so on are among the factors operating in the creation of the terminological inventory of esthetic medicine. The conclusion is drawn that the segregation and the application of analytical procedures to the innovative terminological system of esthetic medicine help further identify this terminological system and codify the new tendencies in the formation of contemporary terminological systems.
