THE ORIENTALISM MOVEMENT IN THE WORKS BY THE RUSSIAN FIVE

Summary/Abstract: In terms of geographical situation, Russia locates between East and West and due to the effects of these two cultures, the music of East always be interest of Russian composers. This interest in 19 century showed itself in the orientalism movement in Russian composers national composition echole. In music history Russian Fives who recognized in nationalist movement, valued the other cultures and folklores by using Russian Orientalism. In this study it is aimed to examine the movement of orientalism in Russian Fives compositions and their effects in music system such as harmony, intonation , mode etc.
