AN ESSAY ON DECISIVENESS OF LANGUAGE ELEMENTS ON THE FORMATION OF THE TEVFİK FİKRET’S AND AHMET HAMDİ TANPINAR’S STYLES

Summary/Abstract: It is possible to understand what kind of language a writer uses by understanding his style. Although language and style are seen as the same things, they complement each other but they are not the same things. Style has been determined according to majority of using Arabic and Persian words and the intensity of the use of these words by artist for so many years. If the Arabic and Persian words used a lot the style is heavy, if they used less the style is clear expressions were prominent. In this study style and its varieties are introduced and how Ahmet Hamdi and Tevfik Fikret created their styles by using language elements are compared. It is tried to determine the effects of adjectives, pronouns, adverbs, noun phrases, verb phrases in their own sentences on both artists‟ styles. The determiners of Fikret and Tanpınar's styles are subtle word repetitions, the usage style of sentence elements, the colors used in their works. The effects of deviations in syntax put forward on Fikret and Tanpınar's styles. In this study it is indicated that style does not just consist of use of words artfully. It has been indicated how language elements determine the style by taking Tanpınar and Fikret's poems as sample.
