Summary/Abstract: Discourses regarding ‘active seniors’ may be treated as an example of the changes taking place in contemporary culture, which seem to reflect what social scientists have termed individualisation. This means that ‘active senior’ can be interpreted as a project whose subject and object is the individualised person. This assumption is tested through analysis of documents regarding the activeness of senior citizens compiled by international, national, and non-governmental organisations. The first section of the paper describes the model of society emerging from analyses conducted by sociologists tackling so-called ‘structural individualisation’, following which the author provides definitions regarding what active aging is according to international institutions, in documents prepared by the Polish government, and among players in the third sector.
