Summary/Abstract: The article discusses issues of using obscene vocabulary in artistic texts on the example of the lyric of S. Yesenin and V. Mayakovsky. The purpose of the analysis is to classify invective lexis taking into consideration its peculiarities such as the insulting strength, the field of description etc. It’s discovered, that the high-frequency usage of expletives in both poets’ lyric is caused by the necessity of greater expression. Obscene words were mostly used by Mayakovsky and Yesenin to intensify ideological message.
