Summary/Abstract: Our study deals with specific types of narration used in texts by Dominik Tatarka and Ján Johanides. Chosen post-mortem type of narrator, retrospective narration or combination of various forms of narrative in one text is used by both writers to highlight the complexity of the characters' survival and the contrast between their private and public personality. The authors pay attention to the status and role of the individual human being in society. Tatarka is also critical to the culture and literature, which is controlled and organized from above.
