Summary/Abstract: Scientific research in archives has long existed on the veryedge of archival science. In that sense, archival science made a clear distinctionbetween the activities of archivists and purely scientific research in the archives. This paper aims to point to these inconsistencies and turn the direction of archival science in order to further improve this field of archival activity. Therefore, we triedto describe and compare the views of older and new archival science on this issueand point to further development directions.
