Summary/Abstract: In 2013, Directive 2009/81/EC of the European Parliament and the Council of 13 July 2009 on the coordination of procedures for the award of certain works contracts, supply contracts and service contracts by contracting authorities or entities in the fields of defense and security, amending Directives 2004/17/EC and 2004/18/EC (Directive 2009/81), was implemented into the Polish national law on public procurement. The transposition of Directive 2009/81/EC into the Polish national law should have been carried out with the preservation (as far as possible) of strengthening the Polish defense industry potential, especially its developmental potential, through public contracts awarded by Poland The article assesses the implementation of Directive 2009/81 into the Polish law, as well as the mechanisms for Polish industry development which were used during this process.
