Summary/Abstract: This article aims to define the current trends in multiculturalism in Western democracies. Its conceptual framework is defined by the weakening of liberal democracy in traditionally democratic societies and its impact on the acceptance of cultural differences as a reference for social integration. We observe a predominant erosion of multicultural values, primarily in Europe and the United States; and we intent to analyze the causes and draw conclusions in order to propose ways to improve the current situation.
